The plaster cast is a copy of a typical Late Gothic South German Virgin and Child sculpture. The original artwork is placed in the wall of a house from the former Milchmarkt (now Albrecht Dürer Platz) square. The cast formed part of the gift made in 1907 by Elsa Göschel from Nuremberg, who married the Hungarian Gábor Durkó and moved to Budapest. The copy was made by Elsa Göschel’s father, Johann, who was a stone carver and cast maker in Nuremberg.
