The two angels holding candelabrums were commissioned in 1448 to flank the tabernacle of the Chapel of Sacrament of the Cathedral of Florence. The angels were made of terracotta and are covered with white glaze, the eyes being highlighted with blue glaze, the robes are decorated with gilding. The museum purchased the plaster casts of the angels in 1907. Probably lost during World War II, the current whereabouts of the artwork are unknown.
