Donatello started to work on the life size marble statues of the Prophets to be placed in the outside niches of the Campanile in Florence in 1415. He most probably completed the marble statue of the Prophet Habakkuk, the so called 'Zuccone' in 1425. Donatello's statue had a great influence on the upcoming generation of Florentine sculptors. Due to the characteristic portrait of Habakukk, the figure was thought to portray Giovanni di Barduccio Chierichini, a Florentine contemporary of the sculptor. Currently a copy of the statue is on display in the niche of the Campanile, the original one is housed in the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo. The Museum of Fine Arts ordered a copy of the bust only, in 1907. It was probably lost during World War II, the current whereabouts of the artwork are unknown.
