Current Location of the Original Artwork
Germany, Berlin, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin

The female busts by Francesco Laurana became very popular during the 19th century, and consequently many fake pieces were also made. The bust of the Museum in Berlin (then Kaiser Friedrich Museum, now Staatliche Museen zu Berlin) probably belonged to those fakes made in the 19th century. In 1907 the Budapest Museum of Fine Arts purchased the copy of the bust in Berlin, considered at that time an original work. During the World War II the bust in Berlin was seriously damaged and only the face of the figure survived. The copy of the bust probably also lost during World War II, the current whereabouts of the artwork are unknown.
