The marble tomb dedicated to the distinguished general and military man, Thomas II, Count of Savoya (1199–1259) was placed in the sanctuary of the Cathedral of Aosta. The tomb made around 1430 consists of two parts: the sarcophagus decorated with shields and the armoured figure of the count lying on it, with a lion at his feet. The monument was probably made by Stefano Mossettaz (?–1448/1450), a sculptor of Aosta. Commissioned by the museum in 1907, the cast was made by Carlo Campi in Milan. It was exhibited in the Romanesque Hall, in 1909. Probably lost during World War II, current whereabouts of the artwork are unknown.
