Reliefs with episodes from the life of the Virgin can be seen on the main altar of the Church of San Martino in Carpiano; and can be connected to the circle of the sculptor Bonino da Campione (Campione d'Italia, ca. 1325 – ca. 1397). The marble altar was originally intended for the Charterhouse of Pavia, but it was installed in Carpiano in the end due to its iconography, which refers to apocryphal Gospels. Commissioned by the museum in 1907, the cast was made by Carlo Campi in Milan. It was exhibited in the Romanesque Hall, in 1911. Probably lost during World War II, the current whereabouts of the artwork are unknown.
