One of the left-jamb statues of the so-called Adam’s Gate in the Bamberg Cathedral represents Kunigunde (ca. 975–1040), the wife of Henry II (973–1024). The Adam’s Gate built in the 1190s is the oldest portal of the church, and once served as a main entrance to the building. The six sandstone figures on the columns were made in the 1230s. Commissioned by the museum in 1909, the cast was made in the plaster casting workshop of Kaiser-Friedrich-Museum, Berlin. It was exhibited in the Romanesque Hall in 1910. Probably lost during World War II, current whereabouts of the artwork are unknown.
