The rood screen (1130–1135) in the abbatial church of Wechselburg is crowned by a large scale Calvary-group. There are two angels on the horizontal parts of the trefoil crucifix beside the crucified Christ and the Risen Savior on the top. At the foot of the cross lies Adam, the first man, and next to him stands the Virgin and Saint John. Under their feet, there are crowned figures, the personifications of pagan and Christian kings. Commissioned by the museum in 1909, the cast was made by Joseph Kreittmayr in München. It was erected in the Romanesque Hall, in 1911.
